Thumbnail History

Started by brothers William and Manny Fingerhut, (yes, it’s a real person’s last name!) this company has been selling items since 1948. Their first offering: seat covers. Expanding products and services through the years, the company has changed hands several times, but the quality has remained. Mail-order catalogs have been around a long time, many have disappeared or now only offer their goods online; but Fingerhut’s staying power has been additionally assured by the ability to split payments with little or no credit.

They offer a multitude of changing items including bedding, kitchenware, outdoor and sports items, clothing, get the idea…just about everything. And…you can still shop the old-fashioned way without a computer. Fingerhut keeps customers accustomed to shopping on the sofa while also looking to the future shoppers that prefer phone or online shopping.

The difference between Fingerhut and a lot of other mail order companies is that they actually check out the items they sell before they promote them in their catalogs. The bottom line: They don’t sell “junk”.

Fingerhut orders are shipped quickly and arrive at your door, usually in 6 to 8 days. They offer normal ground delivery and speedier options as well. They also provide a return shipping label. Yes, you have to pay to return items, but at least the label is preprinted so you don’t need to make your own or risk getting the address wrong. You can track your order online if you like, or call customer service.

You have the ability to check out an item for 30 days before the first payment is due to make sure it’s just the item you want. You can pay by credit card (if you have one), check, money order or sign up for their own credit line. Fingerhut helps you build credit or rebuild bad credit by offering a system supported by WebBank/Fingerhut Credit Account that affords customers the ability to make payments on items over time. Catalog orders may be placed by mail or online.
